We talk too much, do nothing. In private gatherings, at public places, any where two or more Pakistanies meet, the topic is ‘our problems’. We’re becoming addicts of talk shows.

What is the solution of our problems? We don’t know.
Who will solve these problems? This is politician’s job. Which politicians! They are not human being, they are money-sucking machines.

We elect the same corrupt and incompetent politicians again and again. How stupid we are; we do the same thing and expect different result.

Then who else? Probably some one will come from another world to solve our problems.
No my friends, nobody will come with a magic stick. Nobody will solve our problems but ourselves.
 

Solution

Talk less, do more!

ACT NOW. Organize yourselves in groups. Try to solve smaller problems. Then a coalition of these groups will take up major issues.

Issue # 2

Injustice, Corruption and Poverty - Top Evils

Solution

In fact poverty is the result of injustice and corruption. Eliminate injustice and corruption; the poverty will be eliminated automatically.

Local groups organized on community level need to declare a war against these top evils.
“The convenience of silence is as evil as the greatest crime”
Stand up, be united and raise voice against injustice and corruption.
Communicate with the Silent Majority - Reach out to as many people in your community as you can.
Educate the people. They should realize that this is their money which is being looted and they need to fight with the same force as they do with the thief who enters into their home.

Three ways to improve economic conditions of the people:
I) Improve their skills, knowledge and capabilities
II) Better utilization of available resources
III) Use of modern technology

Issue # 3

Impurity and high prices of milk in urban areas

Solution

Keep a dairy goat as pet. One or two goats can furnish pure fresh milk for a family on a year round basis. Make ‘Goat Club’ in your community.

A Dairy Goat Development Centre under Pakistan Agricultural Research Council can provide following services to these clubs:

1. Genetic Improvement of Dairy Goats
2. Training and Vet nary Services
3. Manage farms to provide quality animals at reasonable prices
4. Arrange feed supply at reasonable prices
5. Provide information on suitable shrubs and trees, which may be grown in the neighborhood and use as fodder.

Issue # 4

Severe electricity shortage

Solution

While the development of medium and small hydro power projects is the best solution in long term, the use of a simple technology at micro level may solve this problem in short term.

The Technology
Stirling Engine powered electric generating technology.

Stirling Engine is very simple, elegant and efficient. It generates power from practically any heat source, sunshine, natural gas, bio-mass, wood, rice husks, saw dust or waste heat from industrial plants.

Stirling Engine technology is two centuries old but it has come to limelight during last two decades.

World’s largest solar power plant is being built in California, USA using this technology.
10,000 Solar Dish Reflectors being installed to gather the heat from the sun and run the stirling engines.

NASA is working on stirling technology development project for potential future space missions.

Stirling Engines can also be used for water-pumping and to operate small-scale equipment such as rice-hullers, compressors etc.

Stirling Technology Development Project may be started by Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research. Entrepreneurs having production facilities may start manufacturing stirling engines immediately.

Vegetable prices soared to record highs

Urban Vegetable Gardens

Grow vegetables in homes. People who live in apartments can grow vegetables in containers.

Issue # 6

There is consensus on one point that our Political System is the main cause of most of our problems.

In the absence of check and balance system, our rulers have become Stuart kings (accountable to none but God only). Parliaments are rubber stamps and their members are Summun Bukmun AAumyun (deaf, dumb and blind). This is autocracy in the name of democracy. This tyranny has not only made the life of common man miserable but put our sovereignty in danger. 

Solution

As a first step towards overhaul of our political system, we suggest that the roll of senate be redefined in order to create a check and balance in our system. It has to play a greater roll. P.M. or President’s power of appointment of chiefs of armed forces and other important decisions should be linked with senate’s consent.

To enable this institution to shoulder greater responsibilities and enhance its image, the system of election/ selection of its members need to be changed. Under the present system it is just an extension of the national assembly and has the following type of stuff:

• People who made money from illegal means and bought the voters (members of national and provincial assemblies)
• People who get their senate ticket just because of PERSONAL contacts with the chiefs of political parties without any political background or services to the party.
• People who spent most of their working life abroad. Their vested interests are in other countries and they are here to serve their foreign masters.
• Corrupt and incompetent politicians, who endorse anything their boss does, no matter how evil or stupid. 

We suggest to nominate the following people as senators:

• Presidents of the Supreme Court Bar Association and High Court Bar Associations of all the four provinces.
• Representatives of the journalists, one from each province, elected by the journalists.
• Presidents of Chamber of Commerce- one from each province
• Representatives of doctors, engineers & scientists, chartered accountants elected by their professional organizations.
• Chief Justice of Pakistan (Retd) and Chief Justices of all the four High Courts (Retd)
• Vice Chancellors (Retd) of the largest university of each province
• Army, Air force & Navy Chiefs (R) and Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff committee (R)
• I.G. of Police  (Retd) of all the four provinces
• Auditor General of Pakistan (Retd)
• Governor State Bank of Pakistan (Retd)
• Foreign Secretary (Retd)
• Finance Secretary (Retd)

They are all successful people. They have struggled hard to get at this level. They excelled in their respective fields. They have devoted all their lives to this country. We trust on their devotion, sincerity and capabilities.

Another important factor; most of these people come from the middle class, which has moral values and has given so much to this country. While the ruling elite under the present system has no moral values. They are bloodsucking parasites and have given nothing but corruption to this country. They look out for their own interest regardless of the consequences.

This system takes care of a major flaw in democracy pointed out by Allama Iqbal.

Jamhooriat woh tarz-e-hakoomat hai jis mein
Bandoun ko gina kerte hain, tola nahin kerte

In every society Knowledgeable and wise are few. The majority on the principle of one man one vote rule on the wise. (In our country this majority is so stupid that it does not rule itself and elect fuddle lords as their representatives).

Under the system we proposed, one house (Assembly) will have elected representatives of the majority and the other house (senate) will accommodate this minority on the basis of their weight (weight of their knowledge and wisdom, not the weight of their wealth).
